Thermostats are devices used in district heating systems to ensure proper temperature and safety. Danfoss ST-1 and ST-2 safety thermostats are particularly useful in systems that require protection. Danfoss ST-1 has a built-in thermostat and safety sensor that automatically restarts the system. Danfoss ST-2, on the other hand, has a built-in thermostat with automatic restart and a limiter with manual restart operation. If ST-1 or ST-2 thermostats are used with an AMV-type spring-return actuator, a safety sensor or limiter can activate the actuator's spring-return function, forcing the actuator to close the valve. Safety thermostats comply with DIN 3440 with the DIN numbers ST-1 TR STW 983 93 and ST-2 TR STB 982 93.

Safety thermostats ST-1 and ST-2 work perfectly with spring-return equipped actuators, such as models AMV(E) 13, 23, 33, which are controlled by a 3-point signal. In emergency situations, the safety sensor (STW) on the ST-1 or the temperature fuse (STB) on the ST-2 can activate the actuator's return spring, forcing the valve to close quickly and automatically. This type of integration provides an additional layer of protection, preventing excessive temperature rise and damage to the system.
